Future Research
My SURE project yielded significant scientific results. While biotechnology will undoubtedly play a growing role in the future of medicine, innovations to make synthetic products more facilitative to cell adherence is a necessity. My results with the bone fragments successful role as scaffolds could be expanded upon in treatment of non-unions. Perhaps scientists could find a way to utilize the bone at the site of the injury itself to artificially induce osteogenesis through the usage mesenchymal stem cells or another such method.
